Plug-in van grant

The plug-in van grant should be available until April 2027.
Eligibility
From 6 January 2026, to be eligible for the plug-in van grant, a van must:
- be new, with a vehicle category of ‘N1’, ‘N2’ or ‘N3’;
- emit 0 g/km at the tailpipe;
- must have a minimum zero emission range of 60 miles;
- be able to reach a speed of 50 miles per hour or more;
- have an appropriate 3 year/60,000 mile warranty;

the battery must be warrantied against manufacturing defects and faults and exceed battery degradation within the following time/mileage periods and capacity:
- at least 80% of its initial or rated charge capacity for the initial 3 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes sooner;
- 70% of initial or rated charge capacity for the initial 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes sooner;
- have either a standard 5 year warranty on the battery or an option to extend the warranty by a minimum of 2 years;
- comply with UN-ECE regulations to prove it is electrically safe; and
- have either a European Commission safety approval or acceptable evidence of levels of safety as judged by international standards.
Prior to 6 January 2026, category N1 vans emitting less than 50 g/km, and N2 and N3 category vehicles driven by hybrid, range extended or novel powertrains, and meeting or exceeding Euro VI emissions regulations and demonstrating significant, that is at least 50% less, CO₂ emissions savings compared against a conventionally fuelled equivalent vehicle qualified for the plug-in van grant. Any legitimate order of a hybrid or range extended van placed on the grant portal by 5 January 2026 will be honoured.
